Prof. Daniella Tilbury, Hon Fellow, St Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge, and a Fellow at Stakeholder Forum, recently authored a new European Commission analytical report that critically examines higher education for sustainability — focusing on how senior leadership teams learn, adapt, and steer institutions through the complex challenges of our time.
The report reviews global progress and offers key recommendations for strengthening leadership capacity to drive transformative change across the sector. It draws on international research and expert assessment to highlight what works — and what still needs attention — in embedding sustainability in higher education governance, strategy, and culture.
Higher Education for Sustainability: Leadership, Learning and the Development of Senior Teams is accompanied by a policy brief and executive summary, available in English, French, and German, and all three documents can be downloaded here.
Prof. Tilbury would welcome hearing from colleagues and organisations working in this space, particularly those interested in collaborating to advance the recommendations and next steps identified in the study. If you’d like to connect with her, please email [email protected].
