In a recent article published on the Brighter Green website, Stakeholder Forum Associate Isis Alvarez and co-author Mia MacDonald center the case of the megafarms in the Yucatán to explore two conference themes: MOTH (More-Than-Human Life) rights in practice and storytelling for the MOTH field. The research and writing draw on academic investigations, journalism, and documentary filmmaking supported by Brighter Green’s Animals and Biodiversity Reporting Fund, stakeholder collaboration, and fieldwork the authors undertook in March 2026, when they visited communities grappling with the consequences of megafarms and met some of the leading environmental defenders.
