Ingeborg Niestroy
June 05, 2025 – Stakeholder Forum Director Irena Zubcevic is pleased to announce that Ingeborg Niestroy has become Stakeholder Forum’s newest Fellow. SF Fellow and Associates are experts in the field of sustainable development with 5 to 10 years – or more – of experience. They work with us to develop partnerships and programs that can promote SF’s mission and work.
Inge has worked for over 20 years in environmental policy and governance for sustainable development, at the interface of science, policy, and society, at the national, subnational, and EU levels, in Europe and internationally. She was the executive director of EEAC, the European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Council, and engaged in its UN-related work. Inge was a member of the Steering Group of SDG Watch Europe, the European civil society alliance for Agenda 2030. Since 2019, she has been with the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) in Germany, first with the Science Platform Sustainability 2030, then leading the EU Horizon 2020 project REAL-DEAL, collaborating with researchers and civil society organisations on the nexus of democracy and sustainability. She continues this focus in a new project, Scaledem – Scaling Democratic Innovations.
Ingeborg is co-founder of the think tank Public Strategy for Sustainable Development (ps4sd), where she has lead various studies and projects, often with a comparative perspective of countries and at different levels, such as for the Bertelsmann Foundation (2013) Winning Strategies for a Sustainable Future, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) (2014) Sustainable Development Goals and Indicators for a Small Planet and the European Parliament (2019): Europe’s approach to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals: good practices and the way forward, following up on the first governance book Sustaining Sustainability (2005).
SF is very fortunate to have Inge join our team. You can read more about her and other SF Fellows by going to Stakeholder Forum’s Fellows & Associates page.
