The Untimely Loss of a Collaborator and Friend to SF

Sad news these days from Norway

Kathrine Sund-Henriksen, Secretary-General of the Norwegian Forum for Environment and Development, ForUM, died suddenly a few days ago, as the result of a medical condition. Kathrine was a beacon of engagement and optimism and had been the SG of ForUM since 2019. A young person – only in her forties – Kathrine had a long career in civil society. She had worked as a human rights adviser for the Norwegian Red Cross, and before that been a UN Volunteer in Latin America – also on human rights issues.

Early on in life, during her studies, Kathrine showed her engagement by becoming the Chair of the Student Committee, awarding a Student’s Peace Price, and was also the head of The Norwegian Students’ and Academics’ International Assistance Fund (SAIH), managing aid projects in developing countries.

Kathrine Sund-Henriksen was committed to sustainable development, justice, equity, diversity, and integration, and led ForUM to become a champion for these values.

All of us, who had the pleasure of working with her, were inspired by her commitment and optimism. Stakeholder Forum extends its sympathies to her family and her colleagues. She will be missed.
