United Nations SDG Summit 2019 – SDG-Media Zone to announce the Launch of The Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies

Live coverage on UN Web TV on 25 September featured the Launch of The Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies.

Participants Stephan Contius, Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda, Germany, Annika Lindblom, Secretary-General of Finland’s National Commission on Sustainable Development, Finland, Cristina Gallach, High Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda of Spain, and Charles Nouhan, Chair of the Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future were interviewed by journalist Aida Cama of Deutsche Welle.

Watch the entire interview to discover how the Forum aims to help strengthen national councils and similar multi-stakeholder bodies where they exist, and – with resources such as twinning and mentoring with long-standing and enduring councils – encourage the formation of such bodies there they do not exist, but would be welcomed.

Benefitting from the collective knowledge of the Global Forum membership, national governments, and their advisory bodies, the Global Forum will help national councils and similar multi-stakeholder bodies to be better positioned to deliver SDGs through shared knowledge on national sustainable development policy-making, peer-exchange, shortcuts to understanding policy cycles, and institutional capacity building, and by elevating and enriching access to communities of practitioners and their collective knowledge on national and sub-national SDG implementation, as well as to other SDG-relevant networks.
