Farooq took over formally as Executive Director on September 1, 2012. He joined Stakeholder Forum as Head of Policy and Advocacy in September 2011. Before this, Farooq was at the UK Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) for nearly five years. Farooq worked on strategic assessment at the SDC; analysing public policy, sustainable operations and procurement, strategy, governance and decision-making in order to hold the UK Government to account and improve its sustainability performance. Key elements of this work included policy advice, stakeholder engagement and capability building. In all, Farooq has nine years of public sector experience at international, national and local government levels, with a further three years of private sector consultancy experience.

Currently, Farooq is a Specialist Advisor to the UK Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee and a member of the Alliance for Future Generations. Additionally he is a founding member of Brighter Future; a climate-change action group in London.

Farooq holds a BComm in Management Science from the University of Alberta and an MSc in Public Policy from the London School of Economics.

Derek Osborn - President

Derek served 30 years in the Civil Service, the latter 6 years as Director General for Environmental Protection with the Department of the Environment until his retirement in 1996. He represented the United Kingdom and was Chair of the Management Board of the European Environment Agency (1995-1999). He was on the Board of the Environment Agency for England and Wales (1996-98), having been involved with its planning and creation. He has been a non-executive director of Severn Trent PLC, and chair of Jupiter Global Green Investment Trust. He is a Board member of several other environmental organisations.

Jeannet joined Stakeholder Forum as senior project officer in 2011. As acting head of policy and advocacy, she oversees Stakeholder Forum’s projects, manages relationships with governments and partners,  coordinates advocacy and stakeholder engagement activities, and leads on the design of Stakeholder Forum’s new programmatic strategy.

Previously, she has worked as research and outreach coordinator for international NGOs for the Open Forum for CSO Development Effectiveness; and as a researcher on development effectiveness and the accountability of civil society organisations for One World Trust in London. During her time in native, Peru, she has been associated to academic institutions such as the University of Manchester, researching on the role of civil society in environmental governance and social change; and has worked for Oxfam America’s South American Regional Office and Peruvian NGO Labor, on issues of extractive industries, capacity building and indigenous peoples’ rights. During this time, she collaborated in several publications including the book ‘Globalizing Social Justice: The Role of Non-Government Organizations in Bringing About Social Change’ and academic articles on social movements and development geographies.

She holds an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics and a BA in Sociology from the Catholic University of Peru.

Jack joined Stakeholder Forum in 2010. As a Project Officer, he leads on SF’s work to develop a Global Network of National Councils for Sustainable Development (NCSDs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) e-Inventory. Both roles involve managing relationships with a diverse range of organisations and networks in all global regions. Jack is also Editorial Assistant of Outreach magazine. During the Rio+20 process he coordinated the activities of a coalition of UK environment and development organisations working around the Summit. Jack has co-authored a number of Stakeholder Forum publications, including a review of the implementation of the Rio Principles and Agenda 21, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Corporate Sustainability Reporting.

Prior to Stakeholder Forum, Jack worked at the Transformation Trust, a charity working with schools across the country to provide extra-curricular activities for disadvantaged children. He also worked for a social housing charity, managing a large portfolio of properties across the UK.

Jack graduated with a BA in International Relations & Politics from the University of Sheffield in 2009, having specialised in processes of democratisation and global value chain analysis.

Rosie Bilton joined Stakeholder Forum in 2007. As Finance Director she oversees all financial aspects of the company strategy and the flow of financial information to the chief executive, the board and external parties, as well as overseeing the audit and budgeting of the organisation.

Prior to Stakeholder Forum, Ms. Bilton worked as a film producer in a number of independent production companies, focusing on script development, hands-on production, as well as assisting within teams to finance larger projects and to source co-production agreements with international film companies.

She started her career as an interactive producer in 1999 at GMTV (now called Daybreak) an independent morning television company within the ITV broadcaster.

A graduate from Edinburgh University with an M.A in General Arts, Ms. Bilton also holds a post graduate certificate in Business Administration (PG Cert Bus Admin) and is enrolled in the M.B.A programme with the Open University.

Ms. Bilton is a company director of Enfant Terrible, a rights company with a number of collaborations with British artists across film and music.

Matthew joined Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future in 2011. As Communications officer, Matthew is responsible for the strategic direction and technical maintenance of the organisation’s online communications.
 
Prior to joining Stakeholder Forum, Matthew worked for the League of Conservation Voters in Washington D.C., implementing online advocacy campaigns for clean energy and climate change legislation at a national and state level. In addition to his campaign experience, Matthew also developed interactive media as an intern at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Independent Television News (ITN).
 
Matthew holds a BA in Communications and Political Science from Michigan State University and an MA in Environment, Politics and Globalisation from King’s College of London. His dissertation focused on the geopolitical challenges of aviation’s inclusion into the European Union’s Emissions Trading Scheme.

Amy joined Stakeholder Forum in 2011. As a Project Officer, Amy coordinates projects, manages relationships with partner and funder organisations, and conducts activities in support of the development of future initiatives. Her work is currently focused on the outcomes from the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) held in June 2012, in particular the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the process to develop a strategy to finance sustainable development at the international level. Amy is also Editor of Stakeholder Forum’s multi-stakeholder magazine, Outreach, and leads a team to produce the publication at intergovernmental meetings on sustainable development and climate change around the world.

Prior to joining Stakeholder Forum, Amy was a Project Assistant at the London Sustainability Exchange. Her work focused on promoting sustainability at the local level through community engagement and behaviour change projects.

Amy has a BSc in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of York and an MSc in Global Environmental Change and Policy from Imperial College London. Her dissertation focused on climate finance and the role of the Global Environment Facility, and Amy is a guest lecturer at Imperial College London on this topic.

Felipe joined Stakeholder Forum as project assistant intern in May 2013 providing research and administrative support to the team in the build up to the MDG special Event in September 2013.

Prior to joining stakeholder forum Felipe worked for Sumak Travel, a social enterprise specialising in community based ecotourism to South America. He helped develop the organisations marketing, sales strategy and website content. Felipe has a further 6 years experience in the travel industry, working mainly in the UK with Trailfinders but also in Spain, Portugal and Brazil on cultural and educational tourism programmes.

Felipe holds a BSc in Zoology and Spanish form the University of Liverpool and an MSc in Environmental Economics and Policy from Imperial College London. His MSc thesis was conducted with a Peruvian NGO and an indigenous community on the periphery of the Manu national park, exploring the use of ecotourism as an intermediary step in the development of carbon credits and Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES), to promote conservation and sustainable development in the region.

Sarah joined Stakeholder Forum in May 2013 as a Project Assistant Intern, providing research and administrative support on numerous Stakeholder Forum projects. She is currently mapping the governance proposals submitted to the World We Want website to create a database of organisations, as well as identifying the negotiated commitments from the Rio+20 outcome document and will be researching the progress made to date.

Sarah completed a PhD in Palaeoclimate modelling in 2011, looking at the El Niño-Southern Oscillation in the Pliocene; analysing changes in tropical Pacific variability in response to changes in boundary conditions such as increased CO¬¬2 and higher global mean temperatures. Prior to that she completed a MSc in Oceanography at the University of Southampton and a BSc in Environmental Science from Lancaster University. Since completing her PhD Sarah has taken courses in Sustainability, Environmental Law and Environmental Policy and has produced a website on Arctic Policy as part of a course project.

Claudia joined Stakeholder Forum in June 2013 as a Project Assistant and is supporting the organisation in the development and organisation of its communication strategies. She is currently concentrating on the design of policies and tools to promote the inclusion and active participation of stakeholders in the post-Rio+20 processes.

Prior to joining Stakeholder Forum, Claudia worked in the sector of strategic communication and public relations for the Bundesbank, the German central bank in Frankfurt am Main. As part of the editorial team she was entrusted with the online communications of the Bundesbank and also involved in the re-launch of the institution's website. Holding a BA in European Studies from the University of Passau, Germany, she is currently working towards finishing her master’s degree in International Political Economy at King’s College London. Her studies have focused on  sustainable development as well as economic policy-making in the face of the financial crisis.

Andrew Mailing

Andrew designed, implemented and supports the IT structure for the organization. Andrew currently runs the IT consultancy, Connectica, which provides services to NGOs and many other clients.  Previously Andrew was Head of IT for a central London hospital.  Currently he chairs the board for Brighton's community radio station RadioReverb.  He has a BA in Economics and an MSc in Climate Change and Policy, both from the University of Sussex.

Jan-Gustav Strandenaes -  Senior Governance Advisor

Jan-Gustav had his debut with the UN and the environment in the 1970s through the Stockholm Conference for Environment in 1972 and has stayed with this arena ever since, worked on disseminating information on and teaching about UN issues during the 80s and early 90s, has followed and worked with the UN Commission for Sustainable Development since 1997, when he that year, was a liaison officer between the UN and the NGO community at the UN headquarters in New York. After his first assignments for the UN in Latin America in the 70’s, Jan-Gustav has worked and lived in Botswana, Uganda, the US and Sweden in addition to Norway. He has extensive NGO experience developed through three decades in almost all continents in the world, speaks several languages and has lectured and given workshops all over the world on the UN, governance, the environment and sustainable development, evaluated projects and organisations, advised governments on relations with civil society, chaired UN meetings and facilitated UN processes, translated several books from English to Norwegian and authored two books and numerous articles on the environment and sustainable development.

He serves on a global civil society committee for UNEP and is presently the global UN CSD NGO Co-Organising Partner coordinating global NGO input into the UN CSD process and into preparatory process for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development to be organised in 2012 in Brazil. Jan-Gustav joined Stakeholder Forum in London in 2011.While also operating as a free-lance adviser, Jan-Gustav is part time employed by the Brussels-based, international NGO, ANPED, as their Policy Adviser, advices on CSR issues for a private sector think tank in Norway, but works out of his home outside Oslo, Norway, when he is not travelling the world, writing, lecturing or otherwise working abroad on environment, governance and sustainability issues while observing and writing on political behaviour.

       

           

             

                Felix Dodds - Executive Director

                Felix has been working in international sustainable development for over twenty years.  As a passionate advocate of the principle of stakeholder democracy, he has tirelessly promoted the increased participation of stakeholder and civil society representatives in decision-making forums across the UN system and his achievements include designing multi-stakeholder dialogues, chairing the NGO coalition on sustainable development and the UN Habitat Conference, conducting stakeholder consultations.  He has been an advisor to the UN Government and the European Commission.  To see a full CV just click here.
